Spotify will introduce more than a billion listeners in 85 new markets
Spotify said on Monday it would nearly double its market presence by launching in 85 new markets in the next few days, making the music streaming service available to more than a billion people around the world.
Spotify is releasing a beta of its fan creation platform, Discovery Mode, a feature that helps artist teams to pick the music they want to prioritize for discovery, even via Spotify’s suggestions. During its pilot trials, this feature helped brands obtain higher royalty compensation over the prolonged exploration, the firm reported.
In its efforts to make money from podcasts, Spotify announced the creation of a podcast advertising marketplace where advertisers can buy across a network of original exclusive and independent podcasts and target audiences both on and off Spotify.
“From providing new ways for artists to express themselves, to creating more chances to be discovered, to giving artists the ability to pitch their music for playlist consideration, we continue to iterate based on artist feedback, building new ways to surface artists to new fans,” said Spotify’s head of Marketplace, Charlie Hellman, about the expansions.
