Netflix can clamp down on sharing a password
The entertainment giant is exploring a new feature that could help it clamp down on password sharing. Netflix is sending out notices telling customers to check that they are allowed to watch the account in order to keep track of it.
In the past week, Netflix has launched a monitoring scheme for subscribers across different countries that shows a warning: “If you don’t live with the holders of this account, you need to keep an eye on your own account.”
The update comes as the viewership of Netflix rose through the pandemic. It crossed 200 million users last month and has risen almost 50% since last March. But the firm may face difficulties in keeping the momentum going as people spend less time stuck at home in 2021.
